Description This is volume 8 of the World Rail Atlas.  The first section gives, country by country, a historical summary of rail development, with section opening / closing and electrification dates, metro and tramway details too. The next section of 72 colour maps shows in detail all railway and tramway systems that have ever existed in the region, followed by a full index of stations. Volume 8 came first - and the gaps will be filled as information becomes available, and the maps/history is completed.

Review This book attempts to be a complete historical register of the railway routes of the regions covered, but of course there will be omissions. Some of these countries' railway networks are diagrammatically represented  in print for the first time ever produced though the years and gives as complete a picture as is possible at this stage.
